The Big Spring refinery operated by Delek US (formerly Alon USA) has a crude oil throughput capacity of 70,000 barrels per day. Alon required an Isobutane storage sphere to be erected by Landmark.
The project required precise fabrication tolerances and welding procedures, extensive QA/QC inspections, and test planning.
Operational Highlights:
- Landmark self-performed all major aspects of a sphere project: design, procurement, specialty fabrication, foundation construction, steel construction and coatings and didn’t have to rely on subcontractors.
- Landmark’s fabrication facility and quality management team self-performed the construction of the sphere rated for 100 psig @ 200 degrees F.
